School Selection
To begin my Technology Strategic Planning Project process, my first step was to select a suggested K-12 school/district within the state of Texas. Since I am currently working for a large seven campus higher education college district in Dallas, I was tasked with choosing a K-12 school/district that had information made available to the public via the internet. This initially was an obstacle for me because numerous local K-12 school districts required users to login to their district’s intranet, which I do not have access to, because I do not have any children who attend schools/districts in the area, where the technology information and other important school information was also available to the general public online. So, I did an internet search for a K-12 school located in the state of Texas. Next, I included in my search technology integration and schools STaR Chart. There was only school district that came up in my search with these needed criteria, which was a school district called Humble ISD, located near Houston, Texas, so I chose it for my class project.
Next, I searched for this school districts strategic plan and most recent campus STaR Chart.
I had to research for quite a while, but I did locate three schools within Humble ISD with STaR Chart data to analyze and review for the class. The schools include Greentree Elementary School, Oak Forest Elementary School, and Humble High School. The Star Chart data for previous years is located below in the charts I created for my project in the course.
