Action Plans & Measures

Goals – are broad statements that tell you where you are going, not how you will get there. 

Objectives – are specific and measurable milestones that must be achieved to reach the goals.

Performance Measures – serve as a tool for gauging the strategic plan’s overall impact and success; they can track the execution of priorities and processes or procedures. (Examples – student attendance, student achievement, graduation rates, teacher performance and satisfaction, KPIs….)

Action Plans – are the step-by-step processes of how to go about the strategies; a detailed plan that outlines the tasks necessary to reach a goal or goals.

Strategies – are plans of actions designed to achieve an objective; they tell you how you are going to get there.

Tactics – specific steps required to deliver on a strategy; there are often many tactics for each strategy.

Action plans are the step-by-step processes of how to go about the strategy or strategies. It can be a detailed outline/checklist of the tasks necessary to reach a goal or goals.

Action Plan for “Increase the in-class retention rate by 2%” (Goal – broad statement)

Step 1 – describe the “where you are going” goal to be achieved

Step 2 – list the steps/tasks needed to do for achieve the goal

Step 3 – prioritize tasks

Step 4 – add deadlines

Step 5 – create milestones

Step 6 – identify resources needed

Step 7 – divide tasks into smaller and easily achievable and doable parts

Step 8 – visualize the action plan may be with the presentation

Step 9 – monitoring, evaluating, refining, and updating regularly
